Faced with the outbreak of the Coronavirus in recent days, the Palestinian Ministry of Labor issued a statement expressing concern over Palestinian workers working within the Green Line.
The statement called on Palestinian workers inside the Green Line territories to commit to all precautionary health measures related to the Coronavirus prevention, to protect themselves, their families and their children from getting infected.
The Ministry of Labor also stressed the necessity of their commitment to self-quarantine and in adherence to the precautionary and preventive measures upon their return to their homes and places of residence, due to the high prevalence of the Coronavirus in the occupation state, in light of the failure of the occupation authorities to fulfill their legal and moral obligations to protect the lives of Palestinian workers, by not providing them with medical care and checks, and allowing them to move without checking the safety of the worker before returning to their places of residence.
The ministry also called on Palestinian workers inside the Green Line territories to adhere to the Palestinian government’s demand in terms of making arrangements to stay overnight at their workplaces and not to travel daily through Israeli checkpoints to maintain the safety of their families.
The Ministry stressed as well the need for Palestinian workers to adhere to the Palestinian government’s decision to prohibit work in settlements, in order to ensure their health safety.
The Ministry also urged workers at the end of its statement, to take the utmost care and caution, and contact the concerned authorities upon their return to their homes and villages, especially as Eid Al-Adha is approaching, hence, necessary check-ups and procedures need to be performed according to the protocols of the Palestinian Ministry of Health.
