The cycle of sectoral negotiations between the waste management companies and the Syndicate of Municipal Agents, part of the Tunisian General Labour Union (UGTT), ended at the beginning of February with the signature of the annex n°3 amending the sectoral joint agreement of the solid and liquid waste management companies.

Dozens of sanitation workers demonstrated in the Gaza Strip, on January 31, in front of the United Nations headquarters, to demand rescuing municipalities from the occupation forces blockade that lasted 16 years.

The agents of several post offices observed an unannounced strike on 28 January to call for a salary increase and the implementation of a two-day weekly holiday.

Six collective agreements have been signed in 2022, which included workers in different economic sectors. The General Union of Workers in Public Services, Liberal Professions and Information Technology stated, in a press release issued on January 9, that the direct negotiations it conducted with representatives of employers aimed at improving the conditions of workers, protecting their rights, achieving new gains for them, and improving the work environment.

In light of the deteriorating conditions of workers in municipalities in various regions of Lebanon, the Syndicate of Municipal Workers and Employees of the South called on the government and the concerned authorities to improve their conditions.
